Magnets and magnetic equipment range in terms of their size. They could be the smallest as well as the largest. Some of them could weight as the size of the coin while others could weight in terms. Some of these magnetic equipment are plainly visible to the eyes while others are tucked inside the inner working of a number of appliances that we keep on using in our daily life.
Following are the uses of magnets and magnetic equipment in our daily life:
1. Computers and electronics:
Many computers make the use of magnets in order to store the data on hard drives. Magnets are helpful in altering the direction of magnetic material on a hard disk in various segments which further represent the computer data. Later, all these computers proceed to read the direction provided by each segment of the magnetic material. The small speakers that we see on the computers, radios, as well as television also make the use of magnets. The speaker comprises of a wire coil and a magnet that converts all the electric signals into the vibrations of sound.
2. Electric power and other industries:
Magnetic equipment is extensively used in the industrial world and the world of electric power. Magnets in the electric generators help to transform the mechanical energy into electricity. At the same time, some other motors make the use of a magnet to convert electricity back into mechanical work. During the process of recycling, various electrically-driven magnets in the cranes grab and move large pieces of metal. Some of them even weight thousands of pounds. Magnetic equipment are also used in the mining industry to separate useful metallic ores from the rocks which are crushed. The use of magnets is also very prevalent in the food processing industry where it performs the task of removing small bits of metals from grains and other food. Magnets are also used by the farmer to catch the small pieces of metals that cows and animals would otherwise consume in the fields.
3. Health and medicine industry:
Magnetic equipment plays an important role in a number of medical equipment such as magnetic resonance imaging machines or MRI. MRIs make the use of most powerful magnetic fields in order to generate a radar-like radio signal from inside of the body. This signal is then used to create a clear and detailed picture of the organs, bones and other tissues of the body. The use of a magnet in the field of medical science and industry is very important.
4. Household:
A number of homes contain magnets which cannot be seen in first place. The bottle openers, paper holders, refrigerator and various other small items make the use of a magnet as to their constitution. A pocket compass, toys, credit cards, vacuum cleaners, blenders, washing machines, etc. also make the use of magnets.
